Philosophical Counseling
Hi readers of the Daily Dialectic! I have an announcement. I recently got certified as a “philosophical counselor” by the American Philosophical Practicioners Association (APPA). What’s that? It was written about in the New Yorker a couple months ago. It’s basically exactly what it sounds like—a form of counseling (or therapy) with a philosopher, instead of a psychologist. You can see my profile on the APPA page here.
So if you’ve ever thought about counseling, but didn’t like the idea of how it’s medicalized, and didn’t want to talk to a psychologist, because they are lame—consider checking this out.
I am good at it and enjoy doing it, and my rates are very reasonable. Just email me (tedmetrakas@yahoo.com) to set up an appointment (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or in-person if you’re in the NYC area).
